Chimera

If two heads are better than one ... how about 3 (4 if you count the snake head)!

It's GW's Chimera. I didn't like the "official" paint scheme, so I tried to keep it more natural. It was fun to paint and it's a better miniature than it looks, but not as good as some of the other Chimera's that are on the market. I still like it though.

She'll go in my Beastman army and can be used as an independent monster in Warcry.

I'm not totally in a hobby slump (contrary to what the one model I finished this month might indicate). For some odd reason, I've decided to mostly do assembly. I put together about 100 Skaven in the last month, as well as, more Warcry monsters and some random metal Moonclan Grots I found.

Warhammer Beastgrave: Grashak's Despoilers

It's Grashak's Despoilers from the new Beastgrave expansion for Warhammer Underworlds. These are painted following my standard beastmen formula. I did the skulls slightly differently, I didn't highlight all the way up to flat white.

I think my formula gives good simple results (and is relatively quick). I painted about 250 of these a few years ago using it. It's my 7th Beastman Shaman and my untold number of either Bestigor or Ungor (I think I have 50+ Bestigor, and probably around 70+ Ungor) ... so yeah ... I'm good on all of these models ... didn't really need any more. I still have one more chariot to finish (my 6th chariot ... now that I think about it).

I had an odd nostalgic feeling while painting them.

Malign Sorcery: Wildfire Taurus

It's a big flaming bull. Well ... 1/2 of a big flaming bull ... there are no back legs. This thing is huge! I could have painted it blue and it'd be Babe the Blue Ox. Painting-wise it uses the same pallet I used on all my Beastmen. I like the concept a lot, but it'd be a better miniature (and more usable in other situations) if it was 1/2 the size.

Malign Sorcery: Doomblast Dirgehorn

Tooodoooo! It's a big horn (both types!). I like this miniature, not sure about the paint job I gave it. Being colorblind, the light green mist kinda blends into the light brown horn. If I did it again, I'd probably make the mist either blue or red.

Malign Sorcer: Ravening Direflock

The name makes it sound like a primal flying piranha thingy, but these are really just 3 flocks of crows. I like them more than I expected. Easy to paint and they look pretty good once painted. I do think I chose the wrong base color, I should have started from straight black instead of dark grey. Basically a bunch of dry brushing with Eshin Grey followed by Dawnstone. They should work well for other games too!

WHFB: Gors

The workhorse of the army. The simple Gor. In the back there are a couple of Mordhiem Gors hanging about.

WHFB: Minotaurs

Some more old-style minotaurs.

Added the horn from the Gor kit to make a musician. Added a large standard from <no idea where> to make a standard bearer. The rams skull is freehand. And the other old-style champion.

I tried picturing them individually, which I think works a bit better.

WHFB: Beastman Shaman & Nurgle Wargor

A Beastman Shaman, one of many who dance about the herdstone, along with his friend a Nurgle themed Wargor (this is the champion from the old Plague Bestigors).

WHFB: Old Style Minotaurs

A unit of 3 minotaurs. These are the old style ones from GW. I found a bunch of Minotaur Standard Bearers in a bargain bin, and converted them into several different poses. The one in the middle is carrying a gong. He can be used as either a musician or a standard bearer (or both!). The one on the right I added a horn from the Gor kit. Left is the unit champion.

Just a simple GamesWorkshop Beastman Beastlord with two hand weapons.

WHFB: Even More Centigors

These are the "official" GW Centigors. I noticed one of them has a small chip which I need to repair. They are metal and very expensive compared to the plastic ones I converted up.

My camera was acting up and so they have an odd yellowish tinge to the pictures. Sorry about that.

WHFB: More Centigor

Some more Centigor. This time some of these are the Glade Centigor (so named since they are based on the Wood Elf Glade Rider horses).

From Left to Right: a Glade Centigor (w/ Throwing Axe), a Musician Glade Centigor, a Medieval Centigor (Spear and Shield), a Musician Medieval Centigor, a Champion Marauder Centigor, and a Medieval Centigor (whom you can barely see, tossing a spear).

WHFB: Ghoros and Centigors

When the last version of the Beastman book was about to release, there were a slew of rumors that Centigors would become a more viable unit choice. A Centigor is a cross between a Gor (A Satyr/Goatman) and a Centaur. Since I also wanted to try some of the more popular conversions for Centigors, I proceeded to convert up around 15 of them. Needless to say, the new book came out and Centigors got worse. But I had fun making them.

There were 3 types of Centigors I converted. The short squat Centigor are Gor bodies on the Medieval horse (greenstuff used to sculpt fur at the joint and the reigns and harness filed off with an xacto knife). The taller lithe Centigors (not pictured in this post) are Gor bodies on the Wood Elf horses (once more Greenstuff used at the joint). The heavy armored Centigor are Chaos Maurader horsemen with Gor heads, Marauder bodies, and Marauder horses (and greenstuff fur blanket to hide the saddles and joins).

From Left to right: 1 Marauder Centigor, 1 Musician Marauder Centigor, 1 Ghoros Warhoof, 1 Standard Bearer Marauder Centigor, 1 Medieval Centigor.
