Warhammer Underworlds: Lady Harrow's Mournflight

Lady Harrow's Mournflight from Warhammer Underworlds: Dreadfane. If I had finished these 3 days earlier, I would have been able to say I'd completed all of the Underworld's warbands that had been released. Then Beastgrave came out ... and now I've got another 2 warbands to finish (3 as of next week).

I mostly followed GW's Battle Ready youtube video for Lady Harrow's Mournflight, but with additional highlights.

A brief painting guide: Robes/Cloaks were Ionrach Skin, washed with Thinned Nihilakh, highlighted with Ionrach Skin and White (edge). Dress was Ionrach, washed with Thinned Nihilakh, Thinned Nighhaunt Gloom, highlighted with Ionrach & White (edge). Flesh was Greyseer with White Highlight. Bodice was Snakebite Leather (Contrast). Weapons were Ironbreaker, washed with Agrellan and highlighted with Ironbreaker and Stormhost Silver. Stonework was Basiculm Grey (Contrast) with Agrax wash. Ground was Mournfang Brown with Agrax wash. Stumps & vines: mournfang, agrax wash, deathclaw, bieltan green wash. Roses: White with Druchi Violet wash.

Cage & Chains

Another Nolzur's Marvelous Miniature from Whizkids. This time it's the Cage & Chains.  It was also painted last month, and only pictured recently. It was also really simple to paint, just lead belcher with nuln and agrax washes followed by a dry brush of ironbreaker. The wooden base of the cage was mournfang with some admin grey drybrush.
The cage pops off the base and there's room to fit a smallish miniature within. They are nice atmospheric pieces. The Nolzur's stuff is proving to be easy to paint.

Gelatinous Cube

This was painted last month, but it was so quick to paint, I didn't get picture taken until recently. It's the Gelatinous Cube from Nolzur's Marvelous Miniature line. Part of my "Iconic D&D" monsters project. The only painted parts are the base, the skeleton, & the weapon bits. The rest is kept as clear plastic. There's space in the middle to put a single miniature (which is a cute idea), in case a character gets sucked into the middle of the cube. The cube kinda sits on top ... it almost feels like you can twist it to lock it into place.

Warhammer Underworlds: Ironsoul's Condemners

More Stormcast Eternal. This time it's the Sequitors from Warhammer Underworlds Dreadfane.

These are the 20th, 21st & 22nd Stormcast Eternals I've painted. When do you admit you've got an Army?

I used Contrast paint with these. As with previous attempts with Contrast, I'm really struggling with faces when using it (although Gwynne Ironsoul's face is odd in that she's got her chin tucked down under her armor). Still doesn't look right though.

The rest had a Wraithbone undercoat, Blood Angels Contrast on the red, Apothecary White on the white bits, and Basilicanum Grey stones. Then I mostly treated it the same as the previous Stormcast. Red bits have washes with Agrax Earthshade and highlights with Scarlet and Fire Dragon Red. White bits have  highlights with Pallid Wych Flesh. Grey bits have highlights with Adminstratum Grey.

Warhammer Underworlds: Ylthari's Guardians

Here are Yithari's Guardians. The last (yipee!) of the Underworlds Nightvault warbands. Finished them just in time for the upcoming Beastgrave Underworlds stuff that's coming. I also picked up Dreadfane, which is an Underworlds game that comes with 2 more warbands (Underworlds 2.5?), so those will be coming soon.

Nothing particularly special about the paint job on these. I followed my recipe for Dryads for the woody bits (and spites). The fleshy bits are Darkoath Contrast Paint over Wraithbone. The hair is Drakenhof  Nightshade Wash mixed with water (1:1 or so) over Wraithbone, highlighted with Pallid Wychflesh.

I like them, but they did come out a bit rough looking. I do like the spectral bluish tinge skin on some other paint jobs I've seen, but in the end I decided to go for more of a human look. I wanted the blue white hair, and I was worried it would be a bit too same-y same-y if I went for the spectral look.

2019 August Totals

I'm a little behind in my totals. I must admit, I'm having painting doldrums. Recently I've mostly been assembling stuff. I also didn't get all of the items I painted in August pictured...
